URGENT VOTING REQUIRED – PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT

URGENT VOTING REQUIRED – IF YOU HAVEN’T VOTED YET – PLEASE DO SO ASAP & PLEASE TELL YOUR NEIGHBOURS – YOU HAVE UNTIL THE END OF MARCH!

2014-02-25 15.18.17

Further to our post on the 3rd February 2014.  We need as many people as possible to vote on spending of these local funds.  Please take 5 minutes to help us improve the state of the pavements on Schubert Road.

The council is asking local people how money raised from a charge on developers should be spent. The Wandsworth Local Fund (WLF) can be spent on neighbourhood projects.

Take the survey at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/WLF Alternatively you can request a paper copy of the form by ringing  (020) 8871 6084 .

2014-02-25 15.17.49

Neighbourhood projects it could be used to fund include:

Improving roads, pavements and parks, including installing safety improvements like new lighting.

◾New secure cycle parking

◾Better public transport.

◾New bus shelters and countdown information.

◾Building new schools or expanding existing ones

But it cannot be used for projects which require on-going spending.

The council is consulting local residents, neighbourhood groups and associations, school pupils and students, local businesses and those who work in the local area.

Once the results are in they will be shared with ward councillors, local voluntary and community organisations, council departments, Transport for London and other agencies. They will be invited to help shape proposals that would meet your priorities.

These proposals will then be assessed for cost and feasibility and late this year local people will be asked which of the proposals they would like the WLF to support.

Take the survey at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/WLF. Alternatively you can request a paper copy of the form by ringing  (020) 8871 6084 .

You have until the end of March 2014 to tell the council your views.

We’ve had quite a few reports about problems incurred by Motorcycles parking on the street.

Pros For Motor Cyclists:

Improved Security because owners are able to chain their vehicles to a Ground Anchor Point.

Damage to Motorcycles is minimised.

Pros For Vehicle Owners:

although a space has to be designated solely for the use of motorcycles, they are considered to represent a net increase in available space for car users. This is because a greater amount of space is lost when motorcycles are parked in the standard bays at various locations along a road.

Damage to cars and to motorcycles is minimised.

Installation of Bike Racks on Schubert Road

There is not adequate space for tenants to lock up their bikes safely. It is evident that many people use bicycles and there is limited space in which to keep them, especially as bikes are no longer allowed to be taken through communal hallways – this is due to the following reasons:

1)  Damage caused to communal hallways – carpets, walls etc.

2)  Health & Safety Regulations – Bikes can cause a trip hazard in the event of people attempting to exit a property in an emergency (such as a fire).

Both of these issues affect blocks of flats AND whole houses.
